I came here as a walk-in without an appointment, but they still managed to help me in a timely manner. The service was good, and the price was reasonable.

The owner and Cole were very accommodating and expeditious. My tire pressure warning came on while I was on Hwy 99, and after calling Audi they recommended I get them checked before heading home. Tony w Audi recommended this place since it was closest to me and looked legit. Not only did Downtown Automotive promptly check my tire pressure, Cole reset the warning in my car after verifying my tires were fine so the alert wouldn’t continue to pop up. The owner (I didn’t catch her name) wasn’t even going to charge me, but i insisted and she still only charged me $5. I would go out of my way to return here.

The folks at Downtown Auto squeezed me into their very busy schedule and were super friendly about it. They got the repair done timely, but I felt the price was too high, and there were unresolved repair issues that I was left to solve myself. (This necessitated a trip to the Volvo Dealership in Seattle.) After several of my unhappy texts and calls, I received a call from the owner saying they had made a mistake on my bill and that I would be receiving a refund check (which I did get). It's hard to admit when you're wrong. I admire that. It just would have been nice to have gotten some acknowledgement and a calmer, more helpful conversation a little earlier in the process. But we all landed right.
I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts. We only squeezed in, what was to be a battery repair, which turned into added other items, when the customer initially mentioned having another repair shop, and trip to take back the Volvo back for preexisting cooling issues. Already scheduled. For some reason. the "vehicle intake" felt like an almost threatening dialogue to our counter staff who is new to automotive service. People who have trouble with conflict can "fold" and make mistakes when an assertive person tries to get "more than time allows." There was always an intended possibility for less labor, with regards to billing, which could only be determined, when the tasks were done. The auxiliary and main battery were both bad; and the locations can vary from year and model to model. The batteries were both discounted and no diagnostic fee was every charged. The installation was quicker, but our stressed staff person simply froze, and wanted the exchange of customer back , in car completed, so they could be on their way, as they so wanted. We are trying to learn how to utilize staff, as automotive can have a lot of "no's" which are difficult to eloquently navigate. Again, our biggest mistake was not setting proper expectations, which caused pressure for all, and a lack of execution when the labor was executed more quickly. Unfortunately, the customer had led the staff to believe they were "driving it away" no matter what, as they had another mechanic for the car... a lot of misunderstanding for all. They believed underlying issues were ALWAYS being handled elsewhere, that the customer simply wanted the car to "start and run again." Happy they made it to their normal shop who referred them to Volvo for some software updates apparently The Owner.
