Had our first car vandalism and between the mechanics and the insurance, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Super knowledgeable, friendly, warm environment. I’ve brought my car into downtown automotive three times, twice for oil changes. On my the receipt for my last oil change, it clearly states “Air filters okay” under the diagnostics. However, this time when I went in, the technician was not only incredibly rude to me about it, but told me that my air filters looked so bad that they were some of the worst he’d seen in his 9 years of working. If they were so bad, they should have been caught in my last oil change three months ago. I have a short commute and don’t drive far ever, so the air filters certainly didn’t get significantly worse in three months to be so terrible in his eyes. Meaning they either didn’t check them last time, or the technician just wanted to be a condescending jerk. I am very disappointed because I liked bringing my car there before this situation; the administrative staff are all very nice. Final thoughts: potentially incomplete work, condescending technicians, but wonderful front desk staff

I never write reviews, but Downtown Automotive earned this one. I brought my '99 4Runner in needing an engine replacement, already a big job, and things got more complicated when the block we ordered from a third-party supplier turned out to be a dud right out of the gate. Not their fault at all, but that's where you really find out what a shop is made of. Lori and her team didn't miss a beat. They tracked down a better supplier, managed the whole replacement process, and kept me in the loop every step of the way without me having to chase anyone down for updates. No runaround, no excuses, just straight talk and follow-through. My 4Runner is running great now and I’m back to exploring the outdoors. As long as I'm in Seattle, I’ll be going to Lori and her team.
